Too much friction burned them alive.
He was convinced she was his dream girl, The One meant only for him. She believed him. They were together all the time in university, some say you wouldn't expect to see one without the other. They had all their classes together. They were inseparable but the rose colored glasses vanished early on. Fights upon fights ensued. Expectations were failed and efforts were felt unappreciated. They had lovely moments, but the misunderstandings would always follow. Fate dealt them even more challenges. She had to migrate. He entered a demanding field. No longer could they patch up the cracks by holding each other's hand. Too much space and too much bad memories took their toll. Still they foolishly went on together. It is a sad truth that she played the fool part well. He was pulling back. He was holding on only to keep her afloat. She still believed his promise, his words of love still rang in her ears. Near the end it was proclaimed that his initial assessments were false. She wasn't The One for him. He found someone more fitting. Sparks of the not-so-loving nature flew. Finally, the slow dance of death was over. It was the end of them.
They met in university where they were studying the same degree. They weren't fast friends as they hung out with different groups but they were acquainted with each other. A year went by, they had more classes together, thus more opportunities to talk. They hit off quite well.
They created beautiful memories together - a dance without any music on, held hands amidst a scenic mountain view, laughter as they tried to ice skate for the 1st time. The lessons of the failures they faced will be remembered more than these tokens of the good times. We'll know better than to give so much of ourselves to someone that we forget to reserve something for ourselves. We'll be reminded of the importance of respect, patience and understanding. We'll be more likely to be sensitive of another person's feelings. We'll know that if we truly do not want to hurt someone, we'll be completely honest and we won't lead them into believing something that isn't true.
He used to just stare at her eyes and without fail, within 10 seconds, he’ll get her to smile. She always asked him if he was okay. Even when they were together all the time, she would always venture and ask "Are you okay?". The care that they showed one another was very true and it would be missed. They were once like two little lovestruck kids just laughing the day away. The early days were filled with unbounded glee. That version of them would be sorely missed.
The endless pressure to be what the other wants them to be has now been lifted. No longer does she have to deal with the mistakes and faults that he always seemed to find in her. No longer will he have to stretch his patience and understanding to deal with her constant lack of punctuality. Silence now greets us as the constant fights stopped. At long last, there is peace.
If their presence once again grace this earth, it would be best to tell them to forgive - both each other and themselves.
It is sad that they left in such a bad state. It was hoped that some semblance of their beautiful selves would be salvaged from the fires but only powdered charcoal remained. Their ending took the beauty of what they had away.
A family of friends was broken as a result of this death. The ties that were once so strong did not survive the shock. Let us pray that time would mend these ties. Death is not only about the end of a life but also about the survival of the living.
This is the end where I begin
