A Slow Demise of Chaos and Curiosity
Mike and Bueni
09Oct2007 thru 05May2009

As Michael and Jenifer (also known as Bueni) approached their second year anniversary, the health of their connection began to rapidly decline and at last the plug was pulled as per the last will and testament.
Bueni and Mike had met at a Greek restaurant where they worked together as servers. As the only two employees who would read on their breaks, they took an immediate interest in each other and the more they spoke, the more they found that they shared in common. Everything from TV shows, to philosophies, to vehicle preference. He was in a relationship of his own unfortunately but that didn't stop them from becoming a pair of fast friends who got along wonderfully. When his partner at the time cheated on him, several times (and these transgressions were revealed) he left her, and within the week a drunken night at the pub put him and Jen in bed together. From there, the relationship became official but nearly veered off track when her plans to travel the world again rapidly approached. Finally, she decided that Europe would still be there later on and stayed out of faith in their connection. Mike was unsure that he'd ever had someone care for him that much in all his 22 years; she had literally chosen him over the world. Their passion from there grew to love and together they realized that it was only sentimentality and ignorance which had convinced them that their previous experiences were love--for now they had discovered the real thing. It was only eight months in when they found themselves sharing quarters and the quiet solace that Bueni and Mike would find awakening in each other's arms each morning was near-poetic in its beauty. The tragic flaw in this otherwise great relationship, became Michael's commitment anxiety and the subsequent "wandering eye syndrome" that came as a side effect. He was proud to say that he had never given into it, and that, in time, he did find the courage to overcome those fears and put them to rest for good. However, if this was the end of the story than there would be no cause for this memoriam, would there? No, the final bitter irony of it all was that as they settled into an airtight commitment, her eye began to wander and this tragic affliction developed into a terminal infection causing the eye's separation from the head. It appeared his unease had been contagious. They would attempt to remain friends but at last, as so often happens, went their separate ways permanently as Bueni's case became terminal.
They had only met because Jen had the good sense to tell her manager that he was the cutest guy who had applied so far. So Mike got his interview and later, the chance to meet her properly. He would be heard to remark in the aftermath that she did have good taste, but it had faded with time.
Bueni will be remembered for her practicality, the cute way she shrugged her shoulders when she was nervous and her constant thoughtfulness. She was full of surprises right until the bitter end.
In addition to these traits, she also had a perfect smile, soft, pudgy cheeks and lets face it: a gorgeous pair of breasts. In all seriousness though, it was her constant support and solidarity that got him through some of the most dark and painful experiences of his life. For troubled as he sometimes was, Mike always knew that no matter how bad it got, there was a great girl waiting at home for him who had his back.
Unfortunately Bueni had a very black and white sense of morality that would sometimes veer into hypocrisy. She was like Clark Kent to his Bruce Wayne; their views, though complimentary to one another were often at odds. In addition she could be very jealous, and dealt with her anxieties badly.
These anxieties and the subsequent panic that followed them had made up her negative portion of the relationship and finally cause her to leave out of fear for what she might miss out on otherwise.
Mike firmly believes now that should he go the rest of his life without seeing her again, he will persevere nonetheless. He still misses her dearly and grieves in his dreams of "the way we was".
His disappointment lingers in the fact that he was made to feel like a villain throughout their time together for having attractions to other women, only to have their connection ultimately severed by her wandering eye. He has oft remarked cynically on Fate's sense of humor.
Unfortunately their plans to adopt some lucky animals into their lives never came to fruition. All that survives are the memories.
"Just Say It" he remarked in the end as she paused to spare his feelings.
And she did. She said it.

Great writing. If it's possible to enjoy reading the story of love lost, then I just did. I especially like how you gave the reasons why. Nice job.
