Self-doubt, Fear, A Belief in Pre-Destination, and the Ever-So-Popular Yet Lame Excuse: "The I'm Almost 30 Identity Crisis" Kills Relationship
Things started out so beautifully, developed naturally, and he became very focused on building a life together. I needed a little breathing room at first, but when I warmed up to the idea of being married to such a wonderful guy, I was hooked. We lived together for just over one year (dated for two), and were 4 months into wedding planning when he came home one night and said he didn't want to be married, and that he wasn't in love with me anymore. He was gone within one week.
Met through mutual friends in August 2004 at a weekend getaway on the river. Had a great time rafting, camping, and eating s'mores by the campfire at night.
Will be remembered for his gentleness, his warmth, patience, old-fashioned ideals of family, support when my life was tough, and his smile.
Will miss those soft, alluring, and serene green eyes that warmed me to my soul, and the feeling that finally, I needed to look no further to find the Home that I have been longing for.
Will not miss his indecisiveness. Also will not miss his hobbies, which kept everyone in his life at bay. Hated that "half-alive" apathetic attitude that he sometimes had. Got tired of trying to motivate him to love life as much as I do.
If I never see Tommy again, I will always dream of him and the beautiful life we missed out on together because of his laziness and choices. I will always wonder why it couldn't have been Me, and whether he is truly happy wherever he is.
Most disappointed by his family's non-response to the calling off of the engagement, and incapacity to understand the full consequence and impact of his actions, his "numbness" and his referring to me as a "crutch".
Unfortunately, there were three losses in this relationship, and one survivor still remains in critical condition.
His Famous Last Words: "I assure, baby, you wouldn't be able to get rid of me even if you tried"
